Care Instructions for Stainless Steel
General Description:
“Thermarium” Baeder-Bau GmbH uses for the cabins the steel grade no. 1.4301 (stainless steel quality V2A) and the steel grade no. 1.4401 (stainless steel quality V4A) as stainless steel. The surface treatment and the cleaning are besides the selection of the most suitable quality the best corrosion protection. A smooth and polished surface of the stainless steel is important for the resistance to chemical corrodents.
Corrosion is generally defined as the material change beginning at the steel surface due to chemical or electrochemical attacks. The emerging visible colourings are oxidic corrosion products and are called rust. A more or less even abrasive of the steel surface, which causes also a weight reduction, can usually be notices.
The high concentration of the alloy metals chrome, nickel, molybdenum increases the corrosion resistance in a way that it possible to talk about acid-resistant steels. It thereby has to be stated explicitly that no acid-proof steel is available, which is resistant against highly reducing acting corrosive agents like for example hydrochloric acid and sulfuric acid. Steel is called acid-resistant against a specific acid, base, or salt, if it does not suffer a weight loss at all or only a very little weight loss in gram per square meter and hour during a testing phase with a set duration and temperature.

Cleaning:
The stainless steel surfaces of he cabin should be rinsed immidiately with fresh water to dissolve or dilute residues after every use of the cabin. Neutral or alkaline cleaning agents without active chlorine have to be used to clean the steel.
If it is necessary to clean it mechanically, no metal cleaning devices may be used; only brushes with plastic or natural bristles. Plenty of water has to be used for the cleaning.
Discolourings or extraneous rust have to be removed immediately. Fresh rust spots have to be treated with a mild scouring agent; rub with fine emery cloth if necessary. Tenacious stains have to be regrinded / repickled.
Product Care:.
A stainless steel impregnation may be used if fingerprints always make the surface unsightly. The staining may be wiped off with a soft cloth after the drying phase of the impregnation. The impregnation of highly utilized objects lasts a couple of weeks and will then be renewed.
Time Interval:
The cleaning may take place every day.
The product care may take place once a month.
